Procrastination / promotion

Here I am putting off getting ready for work. Usually I would chalk this up to a 'lazy day', but not today. I've been worrying about not making enough money lately to be able to take care of everything I'd like to. I have even gone so far as to look for a second job in hopes that it could help.

Luckily there is a full-time position opening where I work. I am hoping that I will get an interview for this promotion! It would help tremendously since things are only going to get tighter because of the economy.

Wish me luck!

My opion/rant

I've been thinking a lot lately about this time in my life. It is NOTHING like I thought it would be. Living in Utah is great, but people here do have some preconceived notions about certain things. One is when you should get married. I know I wouldn't have been ready for marriage if I would've followed the "norm" and gotten married any earlier in my life simply because that was what was expected. I needed these experiences in my life that wouldn't have happened had I been married. For me personally I know I've had the experiences I've needed, and met the amazing people that will help me be a better wife and mom someday.

There is nothing wrong with me, I'm not a "menace to society", and I will get married when it's right for me and not anyone else. And now I feel like I should say, "thank you for listening to this public service announcement".

What I am worried about.

http://www.standard.net/topics/economy/2010/09/23/weber-county-library-braces-tight-budget

I work for some amazing people that are looking out for all of us that work, and use the Weber County Libraries.

I'm slightly scared that the board wont realize how much we need any money we can get to serve the patrons that come to our facilities.

30 Seconds to Mars

Yay! I was able to go to the 30 Seconds to Mars concert with Nicole on the 25th at UVU. It was SO much fun! Thanks for the free ticket Nicole. :)

For some reason it was moved inside instead, which is okay with me since I was almost an hour late. We were able to see the entire concert that opened with New Politics and Neon Trees.

It was fun to people watch and make random comments. It's good to have a girls night and go partially deaf.

Banned & Challenged Books

I have decided that since Banned Book Week is coming up next month, I would share a few books that have been removed from libraries for one reason or another.

Today's book is:
Swimmy by Leo Lionni

What surprised me the most is the reason behind the ban. Did you know that this particular children's book promotes communism? I didn't. I thought it was just a book about a fish not afraid to be itself and care about others at the same time. Basically it is about a small fish that uses it's smarts to outwit a bigger bully fish. How do you get a book promoting communism???

I encourage everyone to go out and read a banned book! Especially with Banned Book Week coming. I'll make sure to include a list of some of the most challenged within the last few years. And for all you Stephenie Meyer fans, all of the Twilight series has been challenged/banned so you can reread a favorite if you want. ;)

More to come.

It hasn't been a year yet!!!

Again, I SUCK at this!!! I was talking about it the other day with Nicole and realized that I do need to vent occasionally. So when I get home from work I plan on actually figuring out more to say. :)
